Nokia PC Suite Editor's Review Connect to and manage your Nokia device with this handy Windows based tool. Connecting your smartphone to your PC is important. Managing content on your phone isn't always as easy as you might think. This is why I like Nokia PC Suite for managing Nokia phones. It’s a synchronization and content management tool for Windows. Nokia PC Suite is compatible with most Nokia devices. You can view all the supported models on Nokia's PC web site.

The software is currently only on Microsoft Window. To create a connection between your Nokia phone and your PC, you need a data cable, an infrared port, or Bluetooth connection. Some Nokia PC Suite applications manage data between your device and PC programs such as Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Notes, so you should have the appropriate credentials handy as well. The application's main window provides you with a starting point for its available functions. From here, you can view and access all of the applications in the suite, provided they are available for your model Nokia phone. Not all suite apps work with every model Nokia phone.

The Suite provides you with an easy way of transferring files such as music, videos, images, and applications to the device, is to drag them on top of the device image displayed in the top left corner. Some of your files may need to be converted to be played on either your device or your PC. Pros: Manages many Nokia phones, converts content from your phone, synchronizes data and content Cons: Doesn't work with all Nokia phones Conclusion: Managing your Nokia phone is easy with the Nokia PC Suite. While it doesn't work with every Nokia model, it should work with most.

If you've got a Nokia phone, and you're not using the Nokia PC Suite, then you may be missing out. Nokia PC Suite Publisher's Description.

Hey there this is my first time trying this after owning the phone for an age now. Basically I've seen that I should be able to sync my phone with my Mac. The PC Suite thing and the Nokia Updater all are PC based. I've seen some discussions about sending the files by bluetooth to the phone and let the phone install. Can someone assist. Basically i'm a novice to this syncing stuff and would like to get started but having a mac means we're not told how to do things.

Need to sync iCal, Address Book and update firmware etc. How do i do it. I'm running an iBook G4 with Mac OS X 10.4.11 Please help. 13-May-2008 09:49 AM glentoran wrote: snipBasically I've seen that I should be able to sync my phone with my Mac. snip I've seen some discussions about sending the files by bluetooth to the phone and let the phone install. snip how to do things. Need to sync iCal, Address Book and update firmware etc. I'm running an iBook G4 with Mac OS X 10.4.11 Please help i've broken your post into 4 parts.

First, you want to know that you can sync your phone with the mac. Second, you are talking about sending files to be installed on the phone via bluetooth - this is unrelated (no programs need to be installed on phone to sync) but i will cover this too. Thirdly you list 3 tasks you would like to perform on your mac. 2 of these 3 are easy, the third (firmware update) is not possible without windows. Fourth and last, thank you for posting your system specs.

So many people leave this out and it's frustrating down the line if we don't all know exactly what's going on. Ok, lets get started: I'll reply in 3 parts. How to pair your phone with your mac; How to sync; and lastly how to install programs on your phone. As noted above, you cannot update firmware from your mac (not natively, and since you're running an iBookG4 i wouldn't suggest virtually running windows - it's horribly slow in VirtualPC on my G4 powerbook, so much so that i can't justify even leaving it installed anymore). Pairing your phone with your mac pre-req: install the iSync plugin for your phone process is described here: note that the last step on that page talks about using your device as a modem. This works great and requires no additional software.

Follow those steps as well if you care to. Syncing Address Book and iCal after performing the above - just open isync and click the circling arrows. Want to change how your device syncs? Ok, click the picture of your device and look at the settings available. I highly recommend a 3rd party program called Salling Clicker - this app is NOT FREE ($20 iirc) but i use it to automatically sync my phone without my intervention. See for details (no i'm not affiliated; i'm just a significantly satisfied user - i've used this software on my last 4 phones) 3. Installing Programs on your phone without PC Suite and Windows a.

Download the application you wish to install on your phone (note: some sites are terrible and simply expect your machine to ignore the MIME type of the file - often these sites set the mime type to plain-text, despite this being an application. Growl angrily when this happens and spit towards the closest microsoft related thing you can find: the 8.3 file naming and TYPING conventions pushed by microsoft made this the ad-hoc standard. If it happens to you, Safari will try to render the garbage text in the browser. You have to right-click, save-as, and then highlight the file, COMMAND-I (for get-info) and remove the.TXT extension appended to the filename.growl-spit-growl. and now you've got the file as it should be downloaded in the first place). Highlight the file and click Finder - Services - Send to Bluetooth Device. The file is received on your nokia just like a text message.

Goto Messaging - Inbox and click on your new message (it will be quite obvious i assure you, complete with filename and a bluetooth icon). This will launch the installer which, of course, installs the app.

Alternative to Finder - Service - Send to Bluetooth Device: i prefer opening Bluetooth File Exchange, and using it to Browse my device (thats the only option it gives you, just select your device and look for the only button to press, it happens to be labeled Browse). From here you can browse your storage memory just like you can from within the phone. I chose to create a folder on my memory card called 'Installers' and another one inside called 'Keys'. I put all my.SIS and.SISX files in installers, and i put plain-text copies of my license codes in the 'keys' folder inside. This way i can reinstall any app i want - complete with my registration info - even after a firmware upgrade or hard reset (note: put these files on my SD CARD, not the phone memory).

Goodluck, -bit - N95-1 - N97-NAM - N900 - E7-00 + N900 (I use them both) (N95 was pretty good, N97 had potential but utterly failed to deliver, N900 is absurdly good. Those of you wondering, 'should I.
