  • Purchased Rust For Mac

First of all, let me say I understand Rust is in alpha. I'M REFERENCING THE VERSION IN DEVELOPMENT, NOT LEGACY I have an INCREDIBLE amount of trouble trying to play Rust on my Mac. I think the game will be great. The PC version is great. The OS X version is not getting the attention that the PC version is. I'm not complaining, I understand the OS X players are the minority.

Save your money and wait until Rust is finished. Right now it is simply unplayable. Every time there is an update something else gets jacked up. In closing, OS X players should wait until beta at least before purchasing. Maybe then the game will be playable. (And I hope that day comes soon because this game looks SOOOO AWESOME) I'M REFERENCING THE VERSION IN DEVELOPMENT, NOT LEGACY. But that's the experimental version!

It is bound to have glitches like that. The legacy release should be working fine on OS X and Linux for the most part. I already said that I understand the game is in alpha. I mean, this is more or less a given with games these days. I've never bought a game in alpha so I didn't know that. I figured there might be others who would rather spend their $20 on a game that can play now.

The development focus always lies on Windows. Other platforms are an afterthought. Of course this is even more true for an alpha build of an alpha build (i.e. I already said that. I'm not sure why you're repeating what I already said. And even that's debatable. Please consider the fact that because there are only a few OS X/Linux players out there, your feedback can be invaluable to the devs.

If you want to help with the development and have some free time, please do report your bugs in the bugs forum section. Try to provide as much detail as you can. Chances are that you will get your fix soon enough. I have reported bugs and gotten no response at all. I check in every few weeks to see if they've fixed the issue so that I can play, but it's still not fixed. After paying $20 for a game and not being able to play it I thought I should give other OS X users a heads up.

Yes I did, but I also saw the gameplay video on youtube and assumed that was the current version. Legacy is what is displayed on youtube. I saw that and thought it was far enough along to be worth buying.

I didn't know that what I saw was a different version. That's not explicitly stated. I'm simply trying to let other OS X users know so that they don't make the same mistake. I'm not sure why people are giving me such a hard time about it.

I'm not blaming anyone. I'm not complaining. I'm just trying to help some else not make the same mistake I did. What I understand is that I bought the game and I can not play it. I hope that development continues and I can play it in the future, but as of now it is not playable. Mac OS X users should take their $20 and spend it on a game they can play now, in my opinion.

That's what this is, my opinion. I'm not interested in playing legacy, which is an abandoned version of the game with not future updates or content. I bought to Rust to play the version in development, which I cannot play. I understand that this is simply the way it is right now and I'm ok with that.
